Blog 1 - Symbols

The casino is a symbol of Las Vegas, whenever people mention Las Vegas, often the first impression is “oh there are a lot of casinos there.” I chose the casino as a symbol of Las Vegas because it represents what the city is all about: entertainment, bustle and passion. Casinos can give artificial dreams, and the dream of getting rich overnight isn’t just a phrase here, it’s a reality. The boundaries between reality and fantasy are blurred here, and it is this unique glamour that makes millions of people yearn for Las Vegas. 


In the early 1900s, Las Vegas was just a small city surrounded by desert. However, the story originated with the legalization of gambling and the growth of industry in Las Vegas (Little, 2022). Since the establishment of the first casino marked the beginning of a new era for the city, casinos have become more than just places to gamble but also include industries such as food, staying and entertainment. Las Vegas offers residents and visitors a change from the monotony of life and fulfils the fantasy and pursuit of wealth. Gambling brings in revenue and tourism drives the neighboring economy, making this city in the desert gradually more famous. Till today, dining, tourism and entertainment make the gambling city more perfection. 


Gambling has increased tourism for Las Vegas. At the same time, gambling has negative effects such as the proliferation of crime, drugs and gangs. Also, the air, clocks and atmosphere of the casinos are designed to make people gamble more and spend more money. The huge gap between the rich and the poor keeps the city’s crime rate high.

Blog 2 - Street Art

  Located at 112 S 6 th   St, Las Vegas, NV 89101, United States, Downtown Art Alley is one of the representatives of street art in Las Vegas (CM, 2023). Positioned between Carson Avenue and Fremont Street and 6 th   Street and Las Vegas Boulevard, this 10,000 square foot T-shaped alley is the newest communal space in the downtown region ( Exploring the Arts in Downtown Las Vegas | Downtowner Boutique Hotel,   2022).   This alley itself is meant to symbolise artistic freedom. Especially in Las Vegas downtown, a bustling area. Street artists can express their ideas, opinions and include a voice for the society. This freedom makes Downtown Art Alley a vibrant place to be.
